The front on this one isn’t flat. Run your hand across the four door panels and you feel a carved wave texture, cut into the reclaimed teak rather than printed or veneered on top. It catches light differently depending on where you stand, which is the kind of detail that photographs flat but reads completely differently in person.

At 200 x 45 x 80 cm, the Amerta sits low and long, the proportions of a buffet console more than a bedroom dresser. The sides and top curve into a rounded waterfall edge, so the case reads as one continuous piece of wood rather than four flat panels screwed together at right angles. Four doors run the full width, with no visible hardware breaking up the carved front.

The same reclaimed teak, cut a different way

Like the rest of our indoor line, the Amerta is built from reclaimed teak: wood salvaged from demolished houses and decommissioned boats around Java rather than cut fresh for this order. That’s the sourcing our whole Semarang workshop runs on, and it’s part of why we can carve a texture this deep into the door fronts without worrying about warping the way a thinner veneer might. Reclaimed teak that’s already dried and settled for decades behaves more predictably under a carving tool than green-cut lumber does. The finish is Olpatine, the same patina technique we use across the collection. On a carved surface like this one, the patina settles slightly darker into the grooves and lighter on the raised ridges, which is what gives the wave pattern its depth instead of looking like a flat print.
