Batur Coffee Table

The top is stone, the base is wood, and that contrast is the whole point of the Batur. A round marble slab sits on a solid teak trunk that tapers from a wide foot up to a narrower neck under the top, closer to a turned pedestal than a set of legs. The two sizes don’t just differ in scale, they carry different marble too: grey on the M, green on the L. No two tops will look identical either way, since marble is cut from natural stone and the veining on the piece you receive runs slightly differently than the one in any reference photo.

The M measures 60 x 60 x 45 cm in grey marble, low and compact enough for a tight seating cluster. The L runs 80 x 80 x 40 cm in green marble, wider and a touch lower, built more for a lounge grouping where the table needs to hold its own next to larger seating.

Reclaimed teak below the stone

The base on both sizes is reclaimed teak, the same material behind the rest of our indoor collection: timber recovered from demolished structures and decommissioned boats around Java rather than cut new for this order. Shaping it into a tapered cone takes more of the material than a straight leg would, since the block has to be turned down gradually from a wide base to a narrow neck. The finish on the wood is Olpatine, our patina technique, which deepens the reclaimed teak’s tone and lets the grain show through rather than sitting on top of it like a stain would.

The marble top isn’t part of that reclaimed-material story since it’s quarried stone, not wood. We’re upfront about that pairing because a buyer speccing this for a sustainability-driven project should know exactly which part of the piece carries the zero-deforestation sourcing and which part doesn’t. Choosing between M and L

Size and marble color move together on this design: the M sits taller relative to its footprint in grey marble, which reads better next to lower lounge seating or in a smaller nook where floor space is tight. The L trades four centimeters of height for twenty centimeters of extra width in green marble, which matters more once you’re placing it in front of a sofa run or in the middle of an open lobby seating group.
